Lost Semantics | 36" x 48" (Currently on Exhibition at Metchosin Art Pod)

$1,600.00

This work in available to view and purchase at Metchosin Art Pod.

This mixed media work explores how linguistic diversity and places we live are shaping our culture, behaviours and consciousness. It incorporates a physical traces of memories that I’ve collected over the years from the countries I lived in (Poland, France, Spain, UK and Canada).

Language reflects the culture of people who use it. We also evolve as we learn foreign languages and interact with people who speak them. These encounters affect our personality. Languages we learn consequently shape a reflection of our own identity and play a role how we connect, communicate with the world around us and being perceived by others.

Throughout this process is it always our choice what we adapt and what is being left behind or lost? Does our linguistic diversity give us a sense of acceptance or exclusion - belonging or alienation?

Materials: acrylic, graphite, ceramic stucco, paper, pencil & oil stick on a hand-stretched raw canvas.

Please note, colors may vary slightly depending on your screen settings.

Original artwork, signed at the back. All sales are final. Anna Mar Art retains copyright on all paintings and images.
